A visit to the VolksWorld show back in March and a by chance conversation with a guy selling a van in the car park ended with a recommendation that we should visit VW Down Under.
We had been thinking about buying a campervan, so contacted Paul, after speaking to him you get an immediate sense of his knowledge and passion for campervans and VW’s in general. That initial conversation lead to us arranging to visit Paul at his workshop and view a 1974 Westfalia van, little did we realise what that first meeting would lead to. A guided tour of the VW Down Under site and a history lesson in Campervanology left us with a whole new vocabulary and Paul's incite into the good and bad about campervan ownership.
Armed with our new found knowledge of Westys, Devons and Brazilians, Paul showed us a lovely baby blue over white Westfalia van, to us the van was perfect, the right spec, wheels and lowered, it was just what we (well I) were looking for. A deal was agreed and we left Paul with a deposit and a long list of cosmetic changes we would like to make to the van. Choosing the colours of upholstery, flooring, and furniture cabinets was just the beginning. Yet each time we visited Paul and his team, we always felt a warm welcome and a feeling that they genuinely cared and wanted to make sure you made the right decisions.
I have to say the finished van is fantastic, the admiring looks and comments we receive from people is amusing and pleasing.
The work Paul and his team put into the van is excellent, their attention to detail really makes a difference.
Many thanks Paul and the VW Down Under team.
